BosStrap Generation 3 Sliding Sling Strap System for DSLR Cameras

BosStrap engineered a revolutionary sliding sling strap system for your DSLR camera that is unlike anything else on the market.

First, BosStraps attach to the a camera strap lug not to the tripod socket, and second, BosStraps do not need a shoulder pad.

A sliding sling strap is more than just a strap worn diagonally across your body to take the camera weight off your neck.  A sliding sling strap is a loop that use a special fitting which slides along the diagonally worn body strap, not requiring the body strap itself to move.  The action is extremely smooth with no pulling on your clothing and no neck pain.

Connection to the Camera

Unlike all other sliding sling straps, BosStraps do not use the camera’s tripod socket as an attachment point.  This allow you to quickly change shooting style from hand-held to tripod very quickly because you can leave your tripod plate or L-Bracket attached to the camera even with the BosStrap connected.  Once the camera is connected to the tripod, the camera strap can be detached in as little as three seconds.

When moving on and off a tripod, your camera is never unsupported.  It is either attached to you, the tripod, or to both.  There is no possibility of dropping the camera or tripod plate.

The BosStrap Generation 3 Sliding Sling Strap (BosStrap G315) is a two-part adjustable sliding sling system which includes a unique 1½” wide sling (body) strap and a Generation 3 BosTail (G3 Tail).  The G3 Tail, which remains attached to the a camera strap lug, can be detached from the sling strap.

In use, the camera glides smoothly along the strap up to your eye. When not in use, the camera rests comfortably at your hip.  When at your hip, pointing the lens backward, the camera nestles as close to your body as possible in a relatively stable position with your hip touching the top of the lens and front of the pentaprism.

The BosStrap G3 Sliding Sling Strap offers the smoothest action of any sling strap on the market.  The 1½” wide nylon body strap uses a small, nickel plated sliding fitting for extraordinarily smooth movement.

No Shoulder Pad Needed

A shoulder pad is not necessary because the 1½” wide strap (widest sliding sling strap available) evenly distributes the weight of your gear, obviating the need for a pad.  By eliminating a shoulder pad, you do not have to deal with the nuisance of constantly pulling the pad back up into position.

Another advantage is that without the lump from a thick shoulder pad, the BosStrap can be worn unobtrusively under a jacket or rain coat.  This provides you with protection from the elements, concealment for street photographers, and passive theft deterrence without the need of a dangerous hidden cable in the body strap.  When done shooting, a BosStrap easily stows by simply wrapping it around the lens; there is nothing to remove when packing your gear.  You don’t need a separate compartment in your bag to store the shoulder pad.

The Generation 3 Tail

The G3 Tail uses a cam buckle with a unique safety sleeve that slide over the cam buckle insuring it will not accidentally open. Together the cam buckle and safety sleeve provide two levels of security.

Your camera can easily, intentionally be detached from the body strap by simply sliding the safety sleeve off the cam buckle to allow the opening the cam buckle lever.

The double safety lock G3 Tail and its components remain with the camera.  All the components in the G3 Tail are non-metallic, so there is nothing to scratch the camera body or LCD.  When the camera is removed from the sling strap, only the low-profile G3 Tail remains attached to the camera.  The G3 Tail offers very little wind resistance which can be important for minimizing vibration on a tripod.

One sling strap can be used with any camera that has its own G3 Tail.  Extra G3 Tails are sold separately.

BosStrap strives to source all parts and labor in the US. Because of availability, one part in the G3 system could be sourced only from Europe.  Everything else, including the thread, comes from the USA.

I go out of my way to let people know when I buy a product that works great for me, but rarely do I write it down so others can read about it. So, here I go ….
I’ve used different straps over the past few years and each subsequent choice seemed like a better choice, that is, until I started using your BosStrap. Using a conventional OEM strap was fine, and we all start out with one, however, the strain on my neck after a few hours of shooting (photographing) really bothered me. I then went to a contoured foam strap which helped but really wasn’t much of an improvement. Next I tried a combination shoulder/sling strap with a very wide, thickly padded section that rested on your shoulder. This worked much better for me, however, you needed something the size of a large fanny pack just to store it.
Then, I was introduced to the BosStrap. Let me tell you that I think I’ve found the (my) perfect strap. Here’s why. First of all it’s a featherweight sling camera strap. It’s so easy to adjust and …. quickly get it into your camera bag when bad weather catches you by surprise…. Oh yes, did I mention that because the BosStrap does not use the camera tripod screw thread in the bottom of the camera, you can quickly and easily quickly mount the camera on a tripod, especially when using a quick release system. And, at first I thought that because the strap was so light and thin, the edges might cut into my shoulder. It was just the opposite ! Maybe because of the way it is made or woven it is very comfortable on my shoulder during hours of photographing. And the amount of weight you say it can hold is far beyond what I’ll ever carry, even with my longest telephoto lens attached to my camera. I couldn’t be happier with the BosStrap, except in the near future when I’m able to tether my next pro camera to it.
Thank you Tom. I look forward to other products you may be designing in the future.

Did I mention that all the folks in three of my camera clubs that purchased the BosStrap absolutely love it?”

“Tom, The BosStrap is probably the best investment I have made since I started taking photos. It is easy to use and keeps the camera always ready for use. I use an extra battery pack attachment on my camera and the tripod socket of many other straps definitely was a constant worry.”

I Love the BosStrap! It has literally changed my view of straps in that my camera is always ready when I need it and it’s so comfortable I often forget that I’m even carrying my camera on long photo walks! The addition of an extra tail has made it easy to switch camera’s when I need to safely and securely.
I enjoyed meeting you at the annual Hunt’s Photo Show in Melrose, Mass and wish you the best in your great product.
